The Elegance of Frosted Glass: An Overview of the Frosting Process in Cosmetics Packaging

Jul 09, 2024

As the cosmetics packaging industry continues to grow rapidly, consumers have increasingly high visual demands for product packaging. Frosted glass bottles, with their elegant and refined appearance and texture, have gained favor among many cosmetics packaging manufacturers and consumers. The Huiyu Packaging Team has provided an overview of the frosted glass process for your reference:

Frosting Process: The frosting process involves acid etching to create a matte surface, giving the glass a translucent, hazy effect.

Frosting Characteristics: Chemical frosting does not remove the reaction products, causing crystalline particles to form on the surface, which inhibit further acid etching.

Determining Frosting Degree:

· Scattering Rate: The higher the scattering rate, the greater the degree of frosting.

· Total Transmittance: Total transmittance indicates the glass's scattering rate; the lower the total transmittance, the higher the degree of frosting.

· Surface Morphology: Surface morphology affects total transmittance and the surface's smoothness.
